WATERLOO — Waterloo and Seneca Falls school officials are seeking six residents from each district to serve on a Merger Study Advisory Committee.
Those wishing to represent the Waterloo school district on the committee must reside within the Waterloo district and be committed to attending the monthly meetings from November 2012 to June 2013. Those wishing to represent Seneca Falls must live in that district and be available for the same meetings.
Committee meeting times and dates are 5:45 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 8, Dec. 6, Jan. 10, Feb. 7, March 7, April 4, April 25 and June 13.
Meetings will alternate between Waterloo and Seneca Falls locations.
Those interested in being considered as Waterloo representatives on the committee are asked to submit a letter of interest by Oct. 15 to Terry MacNabb, superintendent, Waterloo school district, 109 Washington St., Waterloo, 13165. Those interested in representing Seneca Falls are asked to submit a letter of interest by Oct. 15 to Robert McKeveny, superintendent, PO Box 268, 98 Clinton St., Seneca Falls, 13148.
Those chosen by the Waterloo school board to serve on the committee will be officially appointed at the Nov. 19 school board meeting. Those chosen by the Seneca Falls school board to serve on the committee will be officially appointed at the Nov. 7 school board meeting.
The Waterloo and Seneca Falls school boards voted unanimously Sept. 10 to do a merger consolidation study.
They have hired the Castallo & Silky Associates of Syracuse to conduct the study, beginning in November and concluding with a final report in summer 2013.
The study will cost $40,000, which will be shared equally by the two districts.
