MACEDON — Three workers at the ALPCO Recycling plant found a dead body amid the cardboard and paper they were charged with sorting through Wednesday.
Authorities said the body is that of a middle-aged white male who was clothed except for shoes. He did not have identification on him.
Wayne County Undersheriff Rick House said investigators from the Monroe and Wayne County sheriff’s departments have a lead on the man’s identity.
“An autopsy is being done by the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office that will determine cause of death and help in our investigation,’’ House said.
Police said the death is being investigated as suspicious.
House said it is not known if the man died from the truck’s compressor or if he was already dead when picked up by the truck.
House said the body was in a compactor truck owned by Clean Way of Rochester that had collected recyclable materials from commercial bins on Monroe Avenue in Pittsford and Rochester for transport to the Macedon facility at 846 Macedon Center Road.
