GENEVA — Benton residents who get their water from the town of Geneva may see their bills increase.

At its meeting Tuesday, the Geneva Town Board plans to discuss raising the rate from $1.55 per 1,000 gallons to $1.75 per 1,000 gallons. Town Supervisor Mary Luckern called the rate “really minimal.”

She said the town needs to increase it “just for our own expenses that we are facing.”

The town board meets at 7 p.m. in the town hall.

The agenda also includes:

• ZONING — A request from the Heaton & Venuti Law Firm on behalf of Jericho Faith Ministries and its leaders, Horace and Ester Daniels.

Jericho owns a 3-acre parcel on Route 14 and has long wanted to build a church there.

It is requesting a zoning change that would allow that to happen. The area is currently zoned for industrial use.

“They’ve petitioned before,” Luckern said. “At that time, the [Zoning Board] vote was 3-2 [against].”

The Town Board will vote to refer the new petition to the Planning and Zoning boards.

• ASSESSMENTS — A motion to hire an outside assessing firm to assist the town in lawsuits filed over the recent revaluation.

If the motion passes, the town will hire Girasole-Penale LLC for 10 to 15 hours at a rate of $250 per hour.
