GIRLS SOCCER ROUNDUP: Red Jacket lays claim to third straight title

SHORTSVILLE — The Red Jacket girls soccer team has won the past two Finger Lakes West titles and hasn’t lost a league match since 2009.

The Indians added to both stellar marks with a dominant victory over South Seneca Tuesday afternoon.

The Indians clinched at least a share of their third straight league crown and improved their unbeaten streak in the West to 26 matches with a 5-0 shutout.

Chelsey Jacobs scored twice and added an assist while Emily Hotchkiss added a goal and two assists for Red Jacket (7-4-1, 7-0). Meghan Gerlock and Jensen Porter also scored. Shanty Hawke set up two goals.

Netminder Daniele Ogrodowski finished with five saves.

Vivian Becker racked up eight saves for South Seneca (3-9-1, 3-4-1).

Dundee 4, Geneva 1

DUNDEE — Tayler Morrison scored three times and Kailee Morrison picked up the other goal for Dundee (5-7-1, 4-3-1). Liz Curran collected two assists.

Goalie Brooke Howell finished with six saves.

Madison Maher tallied for Geneva (6-6, 4-4). Stephanie Smart turned aside 12 shots in goal.

HAC 2, Romulus 1

ROMULUS — Anna Kennedy and Allison Jordan scored in each half for HAC (3-9, 1-6). Amanda Hall stopped 14 shots in goal.

Paola Figueroa tallied in the second half for Romulus (5-7, 3-5). Goalie Jenny Tompkins came away with eight saves.

FINGER LAKES EAST

Midlakes 4, Newark 3 (OT)

PHELPS — Allison Clements and Sammi Peacock each hit the back of the net twice for Midlakes (4-6-2, 1-3-1). Kylee Hughes handed out three assists. Beth Pierce also set up a goal.

Screaming Eagles netminder Maggie Notter made 16 saves.

Nicole Collins drove home a pair of goals for Newark (6-5-2, 2-3-1). Brandi Lauer accounted for the other.

Goalkeeper Elizabeth Kline made eight saves.

Wayne 4, Mynderse 1 (OT)

SENECA FALLS — Brittany Maggio fired in three tallies to help earn Wayne (10-2-1, 6-0) a share of the league title.

Malarie Nelson scored for the Blue Devils (7-5-2, 1-4-1). Alysha Bachman provided the assist.

FINGER LAKES CENTRAL

Waterloo 2, Penn Yan 1

PENN YAN — Moriah Excell and Cydney Hrycko assisted on each other’s tally for Waterloo (7-4-2, 5-2).

Indians netminder Caitlin Castle grabbed six saves.

Sam Steinert scored off a Kayli Harling assist for Penn Yan (5-7, 2-5). Casanna Banach piled up 13 saves.

Naples 5, Marcus Whitman 3

NAPLES — Taylor Chapman provided a pair of goals and one assist for Naples (10-1, 6-0). Abby Price notched one score and two assists.

Paige O’Neil, Maddie Brown and Caitlyn Grover delivered first-half goals for the Wildcats (4-7-1, 3-4).

Bloomfield 3, Honeoye 1

HONEOYE — Melanie Weber, Emily Schweinfurth and Sydney Ellis connected for Bloomfield (7-3-1, 4-2). Goalie MacKenzie Henderson produced 16 saves.

BreAnna Bugbee tallied for Honeoye (3-9, 0-7). Sarah Gray smothered 12 shots in goal.

NON-LEAGUE

Finger Lakes Christian 6, Oswego 2

SENECA FALLS — Brooke Laukaitis fired in a pair of goals for Finger Lakes Christian (7-3). Kay Frascatore supplied a goal and two assists. Abby Martin, April Drury and Sarah Drury each added scores. Goalie Hannah Eckert stopped nine shots.
