GENEVA — It’s no surprise that the Romulus girls basketball team was well represented on the Class D All-State team that was released last weekend.

Warriors coach Damon Nicholson, who led his team to an undefeated (25-0) season and a New York State championship, was named Class D Coach of the Year.

Forward Zoe McDonald and senior guard/forward Jessica Rhone were both named to the Class D first team. Senior guard Jenny Tompkins was a second team pick while backcourt mate Cheyenne Howe was a third team selection.

In Class B, Waterloo guard Lauren Deming was a third team pick while Pal-Mac guard Ashley Vanderwall was named to the sixth team.

The Finger Lakes West was also well represented in Class C. HAC’s Abby O’Keefe earned a spot on the second team while Abbie Shields of Wayne County power Lyons was a fourth team pick. HAC’s Jenny Scudder was named to the eighth team. Two other FL West players — South Seneca’s Bree Minges and Naples’ Kayla VandeSande — were both ninth team selections.

Large school all-state picks are due out later this week.
