SOCCER: Mynderse boys clinches FL East

BLOOMFIELD — The Mynderse boys soccer team has been close the past few seasons to earning its first Finger Lakes East title since 2008.

The Blue Devils finally clinched a spot atop the East standings with their performance against Bloomfield Wednesday.

Senior Sean Anderson found brother Jason for an early second-half tally to help the Blue Devils earn a 1-0 triumph over the Bombers and claim sole possession of the East title.

“We set goals back in preseason and that was one of our goals,” Mynderse coach Lisa Anderson said. “To accomplish such a thing is amazing and exciting. They’re a great group of guys.”

Goalie Stephan McCann collected three saves for the shutout for the Blue Devils (12-0-1, 9-0-1).

Evan Multala snagged seven saves for the Bombers.


Waterloo 3, Midlakes 1

WATERLOO — Ricky Cieri, Nick Bailey and Nathanael Brown all pumped in scores for the Indians.

Marcus Whitman 2, Penn Yan 0

PENN YAN — Nathaniel Lindley scored twice for the Wildcats. Goalie Brennon Blodgett stopped six shots.

David Travis made seven saves for the Mustangs.

Pal-Mac 2, Newark 1 (2 OT)

NEWARK — Kleo Boro fired in the game-winner with two minutes remaining in the second overtime for the Red Raiders. Walter Quintanilla tied the game with a second-half tally. Eric Holden collected three saves.

Daron Thurston scored for the Reds. Dan Staples corralled 15 shots.

Girls Soccer


Gananda 2, Red Creek 0

RED CREEK — Jordyn Ruston notched her 24th tally of the season to keep the Blue Panthers (13-0, 9-0) unbeaten.  Katilynn White rifled in the other score. Darci MacFall snared five shots in net.

Williamson 3, Lyons 0

LYONS — Jena Eaton, Cassidy Bishop and Julia Ginther all registered goals with under 10 minutes to go for the Marauders. Goalie Kelsey Stitt hauled in three shots.

Elizabeth McGory made 17 saves in goal for Lyons.
