GENEVA — The Geneva/Waterloo/Romulus hockey team pestered Notre Dame with some lightning-quick second period scoring Saturday before ultimately falling 5-4 in a non-league contest at the Geneva Recreation complex.
Geneva/Waterloo/Romulus found itself down 4-2 late in the second, but James Williams scored off an assist from Francis Shaw and Jake Rotenberg with 36 seconds remaining.
Thomas Schmitt finished off set up from Trevor Ess and Isaiah Parker as the second period horn sounded to forge a 4-4 tie.
Notre Dame, which scored four times in the second, netted the game-winner 2:09 into the third period.
Shaw finished with a goal and two assists for Geneva/Waterloo/Romulus while Williams racked up a goal and assist. Jack Lynch also hit the net and goalie Jon Nesbit collected 27 saves.
