HS VOLLEYBALL: South Seneca/Romulus stops Waterloo

OVID — The South Seneca/Romulus girls volleyball team snapped Waterloo’s five game winning streak and extended its own winning skein to four games with a sweep of the Indians in a non-league match Friday.

South Seneca/Romulus, which is chasing Honeoye in the Finger Lakes West, improved to 9-4 overall on the season. Finger Lakes East leader Waterloo moved to 10-3 overall.

Cassie Wyckoff was the catalyst for the SS/Romulus offense with 28 assists. She also served up a pair of aces.

Tally McDonald benefitted from Wyckoff’s distribution, stacking up 14 kills to go with two blocks. Zoe McDonald was also effective at the net with 10 kills, six digs and two blocks.

Lauren Deming played a complete game for Waterloo with nine digs, eight kills, three aces and two blocks. Ehren Nelson hustled her way to 13 digs.

In other non-league matches from Friday:

Newark 3, Marion 2

MARION — Maria Croft dished out 34 assists as Newark () rallied after losing the first two games.

Autumn Hackert produced 17 kills and nine digs while Hannah Croft added 11 digs and 10 kills for the Reds.

Mackenzie Sturtz paced Marion with 11 kills and five blocks. Shannon Cramer had a big match with 16 digs and 10 kills.

Lyons 3, HAC 0

LYONS — Ryenn Smith posted 17 kills, 10 digs and three aces and Lyons (14-0) stayed unbeaten on the year.

Taylor DiSanto handed out 26 assists while Hannah Lester turned aside four blocks.

Dundee 3, Penn Yan 1

DUNDEE — Nick Foltz piled up 47 digs while Olivia Taylor accumulated 17 assists and three kills for Dundee (5-9, 2-6). McKenna Hastings pounded down 13 kills and served up four aces; Erika Sutherland chipped in with eight kills and an ace for the Scots.

Jackie Trombley handed out 17 assists and Taylor Travis registered eight aces to go with two kills for Penn Yan (2-13, 0-10). Maren Miles pitched in with six kills, two blocks and an ace.

SODUS — Jerry Minkau and Imani Heath each provided four aces and four kills for Sodus (4-7). Ben Yackel added three aces and three kills.
