MARION — Following Friday’s Wayne County win over Lyons, Marion girls tennis coach Terry Krocke was looking forward to the Black Knights’ next match, a non-league meeting with a powerful Mynderse squad Monday.

Krocke was interested to see how his team would do against the Finger Lakes West-champion Blue Devils.

Ends up the Black Knights did pretty darned well, taking Mynderse to the wire before falling 3-2.

Mynderse improved to 11-2 overall. Marion slipped to 7-4.

Laura Jacuzzo and Sam Felice claimed wins at Nos. 2 and 3 singles for Mynderse. The No. 2 doubles team of Gabby Marriott and Neetu Chandak pocketed the third point.

Rachael Thomas earned a win at No. 1 singles for the Black Knights. Jessa Matteson and Alyson Holahan paired up for a doubles victory.

HAC 7, Marcus Whitman 0

GORHAM — Caitlyn Richard, Kristina Benjamin, Ava Sauer and Forest Melcher won in singles for HAC as the two squads met played a seven-match format.

Sodus 5, Wayne 0

SODUS — Alexis Jackson, Melissa Wahl and Katy Petty won singles matches for the Spartans (6-2) in the completion of a match suspended Sept. 18.

Canandaigua 7, Honeoye Falls-Lima 0

CANANDAIGUA — The Braves (9-3) outlasted the Cougars in all three doubles matches, each going three sets.

The duo of Tenley Albright and Sara Benham dropped their first set at No. 3 doubles before taking the next two.


Naples 5, Geneva 0

NAPLES — Katy Swank bounced back from a first-set defeat to take No. 2 singles for the Big Green (8-3, 7-3).

Fellow singles players Jessie Gorcica and Jennie Betts won straight-sets singles matches.

The match was the conclusion of an encounter that was suspended by rain Sept. 26.
