HS VOLLEYBALL: Clyde-Savannah gets back on track

MARION — The Clyde-Savannah girls volleyball team were riding a two-match losing skid entering their Wayne County battle with Marion Friday evening.

The Golden Eagles dropped a pair of three-set contests to division powers Lyons and Williamson.

Clyde-Savannah battled through a second-set hiccup to bounce back with a 3-1 triumph over the Black Knights.

Morgan Carr cashed in 24 assists for Clyde-Savannah (7-4, 5-3), while Aliana Tripp pounded down eight kills and Catiana Cushman added six kills.

Mackenzie Sturtz piled up 11 kills and 10 blocks for Marion (4-7, 2-6). Anna Mitchell came up with 14 assists and Holly Bliek added four kills.

It was the end of a busy week for Marion, which fell 3-0 to Gananda Wednesday. Sturtz had nine kills and three blocks for the Black Knights, while Danelle Wood added three kills.

Jenni Stearns racked up 12 kills and eight digs for Gananda. Peyton Wyjad handed out 17 assists.


Dundee 3, Prattsburgh 2

DUNDEE — The Scots won the last two games to rally for the match win.

McKenna Hasting carved out 18 service points and 15 kills for Dundee (5-6) while Sabrina Sprague came away with 30 service points and six aces.

Nick Fultz had an outstanding defensive match with 50 digs and 20 service points.

SS/Romulus 3, Penn Yan 0

PENN YAN — Cassie Wyckoff set up SS/Romulus (7-4) with 26 assists while Tally McDonald added 12 kills and Michele Canale 10 aces.

Taylor Travis served up five aces to go with a kill for Penn Yan (2-10).

Boys Volleyball

Wayne 3, SOTA 0

ONTARIO — Paul Frawley paced Waye (5-3) with 15 assists and three aces. Kosta Sfikas added seven aces.

Sodus 3, Pavilion 0

PHELPS — Ben Yackel had six kills, four aces and four blocks to lead Sodus (2-6). Jerry Minkau added six kills and three aces; Adrian Lopez finished with four aces.
