BOWLING: Mynderse splits pair with Lyons

NEWARK — The Mynderse Academy and Lyons boys and girls bowling teams split in an early season match Thursday at Doug Kent’s Rose Bowl Lanes.

Austin Kelley and Chris Plate each struck the 600-mark in the Blue Devils’ 5-2 boys victory. Emily Petty grooved a 392 high-series to launch the Lions to a 7-0 sweep in the girls match.

Kelley put together games of 197-236-189 to reach 622 for the Blue Devils (5-2). Plate notched a 184-223-193 to hit for a 600. Kyle Comstock posted a 570 (192-190-188).

Mynderse’s Carlos Pena-Alicea recorded games of 198 and 207.

Austin Busco chalked up a 593 (219-195) for the Lions (4-10). Alex Spink chipped in a 564 (198-190). Brad Spencer added a 505 (199).

On the girls side, Bailey Mollenkopf registered a 378 for the Lions (7-7). Hallie Albrecht pitched in a 358.

Danielle Nageldinger tossed a 368 for the Blue Devils (0-7). Rebecca Tracey rolled a 353.
