HS GIRLS BASKETBALL: Midlakes outshoots Newark

NEWARK — After a slow start, the offense picked up between the Midlakes and Newark girls basketball team’s Friday evening.

In the end, it was the Screaming Eagles that piled up the better scoring night.

The two teams combined for eight first quarter points but Midlakes eventually sported three players in double figures to earn a 54-36 triumph.

Sydney Jones connected on four 3-pointers en route to 21 points for the Eagles (6-4). Alli Clements provided 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Emily Vanderhoof added 10 points.

Jessica Shields netted 13 points for the Reds (2-11, 2-8). Kenna Lauer dumped in 11. Emily Hauf snared 11 boards.

Waterloo 58, Penn Yan 41

PENN YAN — Chelsea Steinruck drained four 3-pointers during a 20-point effort for the Indians (11-3, 9-1). Lindsay Johnson chipped in with 17.

Ashley Walker threw in a season-high 13 points for the Mustangs (3-12, 0-10). Demi Battin notched nine points. Elizabeth Wunder collected nine rebounds.

Pal-Mac 54, Mynderse 30

SENECA FALLS — Ashley Vanderwall piled up 22 points to fuel the Red Raiders (13-1, 9-1). Abby Halsey pitched in with 10.

Megan Tilton dumped in eight points for the Blue Devils (2-11, 1-9).

East Rochester 42,

Lyons 38

EAST ROCHESTER — Maddy Walsh piled up 13 points for the Bombers (11-4, 11-2). Rebecca Slate hauled in 13 rebounds.

Abbie Shields provided nine points for the Lions (9-3). Taniqua Johnson added eight.

NON-LEAGUE

Midlakes 63,

Marcus Whitman 15

PHELPS — Sydney Jones (9 steals) and Alli Clements both tossed in 15 points for the Eagles (10-4). CeCe Cordero compiled 11 points and eight rebounds. Midlakes finished with 26 steals.

Samantha Craig notched a six-point effort for the Wildcats (1-12).

SOTA/College Prep 66, North Rose-Wolcott 39

WOLCOTT — Laura Durham netted 12 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists for the Cougars (5-8).

Danielle Hoyt provided 10 points and 10 boards. Courtney Cole (8 rebounds) chalked up nine points. Amy Gilbert snared seven rebounds.
