Gary and Dorothy Linzy

LYONS — Gary and Dorothy (Barnes) Linzy of Geneva Street recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

The Linzys were married on April 26, 1969 in a ceremony performed by Merle Whitbeck at Waterloo Baptist Church, followed by a reception at Dorothy’s mother’s home on Stark Street in Waterloo.

Dorothy is the daughter of Nathaniel Barnes and Emma Barnes.

Gary is the son of Devoe Linzy and Emily Linzy.

Maid of honor was Rozena Barnes of Waterloo, sister of the bride.

Best man was James Sapp of Geneva, a friend.

Gary is a Lyons High School graduate. He is retired after 35 years at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

Dorothy is a Waterloo High School graduate. She retired after 40 years at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

The Linzys support Foundation International Worldwide Ministry.

Their children are Alicia of Lyons, Charlene of Rochester, Patricia of Lyons, Bryan of Lyons, and Emily of Leesburg, Va.

They have 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
