WATERLOO — The deadline for the submission of bids for an external audit of the Medicaid documentation and billing in the Seneca County
Mental Health Clinic is 2 p.m. Aug. 3..
The county is soliciting Request For Proposals for the audit of billings and related financial documents done for the federal and state Medicaid program.

The bids will be opened at 2:15 p.m. and referred to the Board of Supervisors Mental Health Services Committee.
County Community Services Director Margaret Morse noticed discrepancies in an internal audit of Medicaid for the mental health clinic and asked for the external audit.
In June, County Manager John Sheppard said the internal audit revealed sufficient discrepancies to merit an external audit. He said the county is obligated to self disclose discrepancies greater than $5,000 to the Office of Medical Inspector General.
Sheppard said the audit revealed the discrepancies were to the disadvantage of the county, meaning it was overpaid by Medicaid.
