CANANDAIGUA — While the Substance Abuse Coalition of Ontario County continues its work to combat the local heroin and opioid epidemic, an upcoming community conversation will address another issue.
That will be the topic of a forum, dubbed “No Ifs, Ands or Butts,” scheduled for March 24 at Wood Library (132 N. Main St. in Canandaigua). It will run from 10 a.m. to noon.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Shaili Saini, preventive medicine resident at the University of Rochester.
Coalition Coordinator Petrea Rae said the issues to be discussed include adolescent and teen smoking, statistics on cigarettes and e-cigarettes, Juul e-cigarettes, vaping, big tobacco marketing, Tobacco 21 (raising the age to buy cigarettes from 18 to 21), and smoking cessation support services.
The event is being done in collaboration with the Rochester-based Tobacco Action Coalition of the Finger Lakes. Those attending the forum, which is free and open to the public, will be able to ask questions and discuss concerns.
The coalition is an initiative of the Partnership for Ontario County. Questions can be directed to Rae at (585) 396-4554 or pet firstname.lastname@example.org.
