GENEVA — The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce said it hosted its most successful golf tournament to date.

The 2019 Chamber Cup Golf Tournament, sponsored by Hobart and William Smith Colleges, was held on Wednesday, May 22 at Silver Creek Golf Course in Waterloo.

Celebrating its theme of Around OUR World in 18 Holes, the event featured over 100 chamber members, as well as local representatives and community partners, said Chamber President Miranda Odell.

“We are humbled by, and grateful for, the outstanding support of our sponsors, and we are so proud of what this tournament has grown to be,” said Odell. “A wonderful assortment of chamber members, partners and volunteers are involved with this event from day one, and they are the ones who have truly made this such a success, and who we are most appreciative of.”

She said the event — one of its three major fundraisers — has grown significantly over the years, drawing support and participation through golf teams as well as on-course vendor stations featuring a variety of networking games and interactive activities to keep both golfers and the non-golfers engaged.

She said this year’s on-course activities and interactive stations included tasting stations from the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail and Geneva Gelato; a live broadcast from the Finger Lakes Radio Group; an onsite vehicle by Tradition Chevrolet; meet-and-greet stations by Finger Lakes Partners Insurance; Lyons National Bank; Reliant Community Federal Credit Union; Staples; the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel; Wegmans of Geneva; a photo booth by Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

However, Odell said that perhaps the highlight and most popular booth on the course was the addition of Geneva Red Wings. They had players and managers on site, and they featured a speed-radar pitching contest.

Hobart and William Smith Colleges is the event’s primary sponsor.

“HWS is proud to support the 2019 Chamber Cup, which embodies so much of what’s great about our community,” said Robb Flowers, HWS vice president for campus life. “A picturesque setting, a celebration of our area’s thriving businesses, outstanding local food and beverages and most of all, the many friends and neighbors who call Geneva home — it all adds up to a wonderful event that highlights our great city and the region.”

Odell said HWS has been an avid chamber supporter over the years.

The Chamber also thanked Tradition Chevrolet, Walmart Geneva Supercenter and Geneva Wegmans for their sponsorship of this year’s golf tournament.

Odell said the 2019 tournament also saw the largest turnout of volunteers to date. Volunteers assisted with planning and “played a critical role in the execution of duties during the day,” from helping at registration to hosting each of the on-course games.

The Chamber also thanked the volunteers and their organizations who participated in the event, as well as the following businesses for their donations and support: Red Jacket Orchards Fruits Outlet; Finger Lakes Partners Insurance ; Littlejohn Orthodontics; Five Star Bank; Silver Creek Golf Course; Sjoblom Photography; Tierney Pension Administration, Trombley Tire & Auto Services inc, LLC; Geneva Walmart; and Zotos International.
