GENEVA — The Election Day results in the race for two seats on City Council are unlikely to change.
Laura Salamendra leads Bryan Housel by 12 votes in Ward 5. Michael Northrup, Republican commissioner for the Ontario County Board of Elections, said Wednesday 12 absentee ballots were distributed in Ward 5, and all have been returned. Unless Housel is named on all 12, or affidavit ballots and/or a recanvass alters the current figures, Salamendra will succeed outgoing Councilor Jason Hagerman in Ward 5.
In Ward 6, nine absentee ballots were distributed. Northrup said three had been returned as of Wednesday. John Pruett, a Libertarian running on the Republican line, holds a 12-vote advantage over Juanita Aikens, an independent appearing on the Democratic line.
Steve Valentino was elected mayor, while Tom Burrall (Ward 1), Bill Pealer (Ward 2), Jan Regan (Ward 3), Ken Camera (Ward 4), Frank Gaglianese III (at-large) and Anthony Noone (at-large) earned Council seats.
The county’s absentee count is scheduled for Nov. 12.
