MANCHESTER — Police said speed and weather were factors in an accident that killed a town resident early Thursday morning.
The accident happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. Jose D. Garcia-Rodriguez, 25, of Howland Road, lost control of his vehicle on Outlet Road, just east of Faas Road. The Ontario County sheriff’s office said the vehicle sheared a utility pole and hit a number of pine trees.
Garcia-Rodriguez suffered serious injuries to his chest. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office’s Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene. The initial investigation revealed that speed and a snow-covered road were contributing factors in the crash.
