HOPEWELL — Finger Lakes Community College hopes to at least double its nursing program with help from the largest gift in the college's history.

College officials announced Thursday that the Sands Family Foundation will donate $3 million to cover nearly half the cost of an expanded wing at the college's main campus. It will be called the Sands Center for Allied Health.

The expansion will help FLCC gradually double the number of students the college accepts into its registered-nursing program.
