The Newspapers In Education (NIE) program is a partnership between the New York News Publishers Association (NYNPA) and local papers. Its mission is to help both students and teachers connect what is learned in the classroom with the world at large.
Businesses and individuals, the Finger Lakes Times and NIE help students and teachers succeed. In addition to regular access to the paper, NIE participants benefit from teaching guides and curriculum organizers tailored to the classroom. It’s a model that’s popular, proven, and free to the student and teacher.
For Educators:
We deliver newspapers to classrooms, at no cost, in Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates Counties upon teachers’ request. To arrange for delivery to one or more of your classes, please download and complete the Request for Participation form below.
Once you begin receiving your free newspapers, you will be required to attest to use of the papers in your work by downloading and completing the Affidavit of Participation form below, completing one form for each class that receives papers.
To get the most out of your NIE experience, the NYNPA provides curriculum guides and other resources online at www.nynpa.org/nie.html
For Program Sponsors:
Dozens of business and community partners support the NIE program in the Finger Lakes region, and help make a difference in the lives of young readers. Anyone can sponsor NIE for as little as $50 - see the Sponsorship form below for details. (Gifts to the program through Round-Up or vacation stops, while gratefully received, are not considered sponsorships.)
Sponsoring individuals and organizations are recognized for their generosity on a regular basis, in a manner set forth in the Sponsorship form.
