Waterloo baseball May 13, 2017

Waterloo's Jake Dygert slaps a tag on South Seneca's Cameron Cupp who was caught stealing during Saturday's non-league game at Waterloo High School.

WATERLOO — The Waterloo baseball team picked up a 5-3 win over visiting South Seneca in a non-league showdown on Saturday morning.

Matt Barron earned the win after throwing five strong innings with two strikeouts. Barron would also go 1-for-2 with two steals and one run scored.

Evan Shumway went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and one stolen base. Nick McCann walked twice, stole two bases and crossed the plate once.

South Seneca was led by Spencer John and Brandon Martin with one hit and one run each.

Newark 6, Waterloo 1

NEWARK — Ryan Velte went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead Newark to the win.

Troy Ludolph went six innings with eight strikeouts to pick up the win for the Reds.

Zach Dygert had a double to lead Waterloo.

Mynderse Academy 4, Midlakes 2

PHELPS — Jesse Kabat went the distance on the hill with five strikeouts to lead Mynderse over Midlakes.

Jake Anderson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Jeremy Howe finished with two hits and two RBIs.

Austin Avanzato led Midlakes with two hits and one RBI. Devin Hicks and Jordan Maher each had doubles in the loss.

Midlakes 18, Geneva 8

PHELPS — Ezra Maslyn went 4-for-5 with a triple and five RBIs as Midlakes cruised to the win on Friday.

Masyln would also earn the win on the mound as he went five innings and struck out four.

Devin Hicks had a double, single and two RBIs for Midlakes.

Matt Tierney led Geneva with two doubles and three RBIs. Mike Baroody added a single and a double for the Panthers.


Red Jacket 3,

South Seneca 2

OVID — Brandon Mott had four hits and one RBI to lead the Indians to the win on Friday.

Spencer John had two RBIs to lead South Seneca.


Sodus 3, Lyons 1

SODUS — Jared Wren tossed a 3-hitter with 18 strikeouts to lead Sodus to the win on Saturday.

Hunter Bastian took the tough-luck loss as he went six innings with 10 strikeouts and four hits allowed.

NR-W 5, Sodus 2

WOLCOTT — North Rose-Wolcott scored four runs in the sixth inning to secure the win on Friday.

Jorden Brown went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs and Connor Leous had a single, double and one RBI for NR-W.

Gage Leous also had two hits and two RBIs for the Cougars.

Ben Snyder went five innings and Gage Leous finished the game on the hill as the duo combined on a 6-hitter.

Maliq Burton and Jared Wren each had a double to lead Sodus.


Newark 9, Dansville 7

DANSVILLE — Ryan Velte picked up the win as he went 4 2/3 innings with three strikeouts and Ben Cowles earned the save for Newark.

Luke Kornbau went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Reds, who also got two hits and three RBIs from Alex Caraballo.

Troy Ludolph had a single and a double and both Caden Murray and Cowles had two hits and one RBI.

Canandaigua 8,

Churchville Chili 0

CHURCHVILLE — Michael Sculli struck out 15 in five innings of work as the Braves won their 14th game of the season.

Tanner Cooper led Canandaigua with a 3-run home run. Seth Vigneri added a 2-run single in the win.
