GANSEVOORT — For the second consecutive year, Keuka College leads the list of North Eastern Athletic Conference scholar-athletes for the 2017-18 academic year. The NEAC recognized 110 Keuka College scholar-athletes, 18 more than the second-best school in the conference. That number is up nearly 30 percent from the 85 Wolves earning the honor in 2016-17.
To earn NEAC scholar-athlete honors, astudent-athlete must maintain a 3.4 combined grade point average or higher for the fall and spring semesters.
As a department, Keuka College posted a 3.09 grade point average. Factoring in non-NEAC sports, Keuka totaled 127 scholar-athletes with 37 percent of the athletes recording over a 3.4 GPA for the year.
The women’s cross country team had a school-best 3.56 GPA while leading the department with 16 scholar-athlete selections, 70 percent of their roster. Right behind them was the men’s sross country team with a 3.48 GPA.
Five Wolves earned perfect 4.0 GPAs. They included cross country runners Bayli Fugle, Colin Marchincin and Bethany Pendl, men’s soccer and lacrosse goalie Ryan Mavretish women’s volleyball setter Alyssa Rex.
Pendl and Rex have held perfect GPAs through their first three years at Keuka while Fugle has done it her first two.
