LYONS — Solid pitching by Zoe Swann and a strong defensive performance helped sixth-seeded Lyons hold Perry/Mt. Morris to one run in a 5-1 Section V Class C victory Monday.

Riley DeCola drove in the Lions’ first run in the bottom of the second, but Perry tied the game in the top of the sixth when Lily Jaques scored on a base hit by Rachel Evans.

The Lions would retaliate in their half of the sixth as Kenzie Alexanian’s lead-off triple sparked the Lyons offense as it plated four runs for the win.

Alexanian paced the victory, going 1-for-2 with a pair of runs. Kelsey Arliss, Adeline Reale, DeCola and Alexis Lee each chipped in with an RBI.

Perry, the No. 11 seed, finished the season 8-10.

Lyons (14-5) travels to top-seeded Campbell-Savona (15-1) on Wednesday.
