Cole Beasley said Thursday that his final free agency decision came down to the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and staying with the Cowboys.

Beasley ultimately picked the Bills and their four-year, $29 million offer, which was significantly higher than the Cowboys were willing to spend on the veteran slot receiver.

During a news conference with reporters in Buffalo, Beasley said the chance for more opportunities in the offense was "really the main reason why I came here."

"Everybody makes a big deal about money," he added. "I mean, money is important, but really I just wanted opportunities. I felt like I could do more."

Beasley was among Dallas' top four targeted players in each of the last four seasons. He saw 87 targets last season, 62 in 2017, 98 in 2016 and 74 in 2015.

Throughout his Cowboys career, Beasley often interacted with fans on Twitter. That continued this week after he agreed to sign with the Bills.

Responding to a tweet about him making a mistake because the Bills can't win, Beasley said: "Was at the cowboys for 7 years. We didn't win either. I'll be alright."

He was asked Thursday about the popular tweet he sent in January that said the Cowboys' front office "pushes who they want to get the ball to" and that "more balls come my way in 2 minute drill where nothing is planned."

Beasley said he was just being honest.

"I still feel like it's the truth," he added, "but maybe I shouldn't have said it just because of the attention it brought."

During his nine minutes at the podium, Beasley also explained why moving to Buffalo won't be a difficult transition for him and his family.

"I actually think the difference is better for me," he said. "It's a better fit for me and my family. We don't really need the big city and stuff like that. When we live in Dallas, we live out in Prosper. There's not much out there. We're kind of away.

"I just enjoy being with my family no matter where it's at. They said there is hunting around here, so I'm down."
