GENEVA — The Geneva Red Wings jumped out to a 3-run lead after seven innings and then held on for a 4-3 win over the visiting Jamestown Jammers on Tuesday night at McDonough Park.
Alex Bellardini picked up the win on the mound for Geneva as the Elmira native went eight strong innings and struck out four while allowing two runs on nine hits.
Colby Mullins earned the save with one run allowed and two strikeouts in one inning of work.
Joe Tassin led the Geneva offense with two hits and two RBIs.
Jake Evans smashed a solo home run for the Red Wings, who also got two hits from Matt Chamberlain.
Geneva improved to 10-6 on the season and moved to just two games back of Jamestown (11-3) in the West division.
Newark 4, Geneva 3,
NEWARK — The host Pilots scored two runs in the seventh to tie the game and then won it with a run in the bottom of the 10th.
Geneva scored three runs in the fourth to take the lead, but Newark would score the final four runs to secure its third win of the year.
Michael O’Connor led Newark with one hit and two RBIs.
Colton Carney also had a hit and one RBI in the win.
Peng-Fei Wang went seven strong innings with four strikeouts for Newark, which got three shutout innings from relievers Jake Bernardo, Zach Mann and Chris Vitale, who earned the victory.
Geneva was led by Justin Barr and Jake Evans with two hits apiece.
