KEUKA PARK — The fall of 2020 was supposed to usher in a new era of Keuka Wolves athletics; a fresh start in a new conference with a blank canvas ready to be filled with new records and history.

WATERLOO — Waterloo High School’s 54th annual sports award ceremony wasn’t the usual night of celebration it has been in years past. Nonetheless, the Athletic Department ensured the district’s student-athletes were honored for their hard work and dedication.

SENECA FALLS — Mynderse Academy still found a way to honor its athletes for the hard work put in during the fall and winter sports seasons.

PENN YAN — Area high schools continue to come up with clever ways to make sure their student-athletes receive recognition for their hard-fought fall and winter seasons.

ROMULUS — Despite the cancellation of the spring sports season, Romulus high school athletes rightfully received recognition for their efforts in the 2019-20 fall and winter seasons.

Waterloo High School had plenty of graduating seniors that have signed letters of intent to play at different colleges and universities across New York State. Because of the social distancing mandates, the signings were done outside and with a select number of family members. 

LATHAM — The New York State Public High School Athletic Association has put together a task force to begin examining the potential impact of COVID-19 on the upcoming fall 2020 season — as well as the entire 2020-21 school year.

SENECA FALLS — The Section V Scholarship Award is as exclusive as it gets. It promotes excellence in interscholastic athletics along with scholarship.


GENEVA — Quality over quantity. Often overstated, it’s what every player or team strives for. A Sunday afternoon NCAA tournament soccer game on Cozzens Field perfectly illustrated the power of that phrase.


GENEVA — The William Smith soccer team was outshot 17-3 by Johns Hopkins on Sunday afternoon, but the Herons scored on two of the three shots — second-half tallies by Julia Keogh and Sheila McQuillen — for a 2-0 win.


Volleyball players and swimmers go after sectional glory today. The lone remaining girls soccer team from the Finger Lakes and Wayne County leagues will attempt to book a spot in the New York state final four.

UTICA — Keuka men’s soccer team (8-9-1, 6-5) ended their regular season on a three-game winning streak. That streak carried into the North Eastern Athletic Conference quarterfinals as the Wolves pulled off an upset, 3-0 shutout victory against SUNY Poly (12-7, 8-3) on Tuesday night.

NEWARK — For the second time in the Section V Class B1 tournament the Geneva boys soccer team had to face a Finger Lakes East foe after splitting their head-to-head matches in the regular season. On Saturday night No. 2 Geneva faced off against No. 1 Palmyra-Macedon for final bragging rights…

Soccer is a physically demanding sport that requires endurance to last a season. When wins don’t come along with all that hard work, it can be physically draining.


NEWARK — The date is set, the matchup is on. Geneva and Pal-Mac will meet at Newark High School on Saturday evening to decide the boys soccer 2019 Class B2 Section V Championship.


CANANDAIGUA — Last year the Newark girls soccer team made history on Braves Field as they advanced to their first Sectional Finals appearance in over 20 years. Newark would face Finger Lakes East rival Pal-Mac in the championship game where they would fall by a score of 2-1.
